I love this photo. Question - did you try exposure bracketing? I'm just wondering if you can combine the exposures so that the detail can be seen where it is black now.
oh that makes sense. since part of the window already looks overexposed I assumed that you didn't want the black effect on the sides. It reminds me a little of old palaces in India where you can look through these little oval windows.
