I think this capture is excellent and holds within it many scenarios. It is very creative for a change and is not a cliche or a seen before image.
Three may be identified: black, grey, white. They may represent a state of mind, an attitude, a belief, etc... Back to the picture, I like the angle and I like the position of the objects. The focus is clear; not only is it the bright glimpse of light that draws one, but also the converging lines and the whole perspective that dominates the picture; thus, creating a balance between the several contrasts seen.
Like Eric, I have a real affinity towards photos that illuminate the negative and positive space. I think the blast of light central to the photo really helps to create nice negative space.

This capture is OK. Honestly the lighting completely needs to be fixed..it's too bright. Maybe that's what you were trying to get at.
Ali,
I totally disagree with relative.

I just really like the negative/positive aspect of this picture, and the bit of gray.
It's all the darkness of the foreground objects against such a stark sky and lighting that make it work for me.
If ever I'm in Chicago for a weekend, I'll find out if you have an exhibition and I will be there.
