I got lucky when I took this image. The clouds started to move, the stars moved - a little, and finally a redeye flight by Northwest Airlines took off going towards Denver Colorado. Notice the straight line starting from the midpoint and going towards the left top. But also notice the purple at the left top; it's oversaturation as a result of a poorly placed digital sensor on the darn Nikon Camera!

Very cool image that includes the stars and clouds. I wouldn't have guessed the sensor was the cause. I figured you might have caught an aurora. I'm signed up on spaceweather.com which they said there will be a lot in the northern states this weekend, so that was my first guess :) anyways great capture.
