Another picture of birds - once again, at the beginning of the year. This bird is quite possibly the smallest visitor of my backyard. Albeit the smallest, it's song is the loudest! I mistook it for a Canary - but now I realize it isn't a very bright yellow. Any idea on what genus species this bird might be?

nice pic..the bird be cute..and the background goes with the birdie
Hmm... I've forwarded the image to a graduate student specializing in birds. This bird fascinates me; it's the smallest bird out there, yet it's the loudest. So loud it wakes me up in the morning!
Its an interesting bird. I have a bird book that is a pretty good reference guide if your student friend doesn't get the answer. I am just gonna guess its some sub species of black bird, but yet the head looks familiar, almost like a magpie. Ah well.
On second thought, I am obviously on crack and do not know anything about birds!
Color is perfect throughout. That Sigma looks like a nice lens.
Brent - that's what I find amazing about the sigma. For a prosumer lens which should be horrible - it performs exceptionally well. I get some color aberation from a nikkor - which is completely acceptable. When I'm shooting at 135mm - 210 mm on this lens, I get relatively low amount of color aberation.
Strangely, the lens doubles as a great portrait lens. I should try that.
I would prefer not to be much bothered about the 'academic' angle of the species of the bird. Just enjoy the beauty, and give thanks to nature for all of this!
